South West Wales

Post by Cardiff »

Hey

Currently own a triple black 800 and a 650 x country

Debating trading both in and buying a brand new v strom 1000 as the v strom seems shorter than the 800 in reality.

used to tide a gs12 and wish i'd never sold it but don't want to buy another one:)

Need something shorter than the 800 as Pembs roads are uneven and my tip toe riding is proving precarious on some stops

i'm in me 50's and ridden since moped days :)

Welcome from Swansea :-)
I test rode the Strom before buying my Super Ten, surprisingly nimble.

Hi &welcome from a Welshman ensconced in Scotland.
I ride a F8GS & a 1k Strom (64 plate). The Strom is lower, but I’ve lowered the F8 and it is very manageable.
If you do decide to flog the small 650, I’d be interested.

Test ride Test ride Test ride.

Ive used to own a 650cc VStrom put 60k miles on it... great engines and the 1000cc is a great old school lump with a tech update.
Great all round bikes and good value for money.

My next bike is likely to be another V-Strom, my Varadero is heavy and I don't do the 2up touring since SWMBO bought a GSX for herself.
But do I buy 650cc or 1000cc???

I'd advice you to test both... the 1000cc has the grunt but the 650 is lighter and nimble by comparison and has a fun flexible engine.

There is also a good (very active) uk owners forum v-strom.co.uk -you may even find me there.
