Hi,

I am newly-retired rider who has bought a Goldwing in order to tempt my partner into becoming a pillion. It worked and she likes riding - thank goodness. We have just returned from a trip to the German Alpenstrasse, which I can highly recommend. Getting the laden Wing around some of the bends on the passes was hard work, especially as I have had both shoulders replaced because of arthritis. but it was worth it. It was our first motorcycle tour together, so it was certainly something of an adventure when the bike is 27 years old with 130,000 miles under its belt. The combined age of bike, rider, and pillion is 139 years.

I shall probably never own an adventure bike of the type featured in the magazine, but I enjoy the articles about touring and that's enough for me.

It doesn't have to ape a GS to be an adventure bike.

Most of my bikes have given me adventures!

My old CZ250 twin was an adventure every time I swung my leg over the saddle

Fair play to you wrestling a Lead Wing along roads like that. Good that you got the Misses involved as well. Motorcycling can be a very selfish act when families are involved. That said, my Misses has always been accepting of my riding and the need to do longer trips. She has never had the urge to join me though ( could be a message in that). It takes all types and all bikes to have fun on two wheels. I prefer smaller lighter offroadable (is that a word?) bikes for my adventures as I very often find myself having to pick them up. Keep it up.

That's a happy story to start my day off, well done. When i retired i tried to tempt my wife into motorcycle touring with the offer of a Goldwing but sadly it didn't work. Hats off to you too for having the balls to take a 27 year old high miler round Europe as well.

It’s a bike and it’s taken you both on an adventure you probably wouldn’t have done without it. If that doesn’t meet the criteria for an Adventure Bike then I don’t know what does.
On the flip side many GS’s never make it past the local Starbucks*
