ABR Issue 28 Route Files - Offa's Dyke

Post by Bryn »

Following on from the Coleridge Way, which we detailed in issue 27 of Adventure Bike Rider magazine, we rode Offa's Dyke in issue 28. The emphasis of the rides is on exploring our wonderful island by following one of our many long distance footpaths as closely as possible in the saddle of a bike. The Offa's Dyke footpath follows the border of Wales and England, sticking close to Offa's Dyke, a earthen wall that was built by King Offa to keep the Welsh at bay.

We've plotted the route out so that you can download it, stick it in your SatNav and ride it. Simply right click on the attachment below called 'ABR Route Wales.gpx' and choose 'Save Link As', once you've saved it to your computer load it into your SatNav as per the manufacturers instructions and get riding!

Glad you enjoyed the ride (and escaped unscathed!). Keep an eye out for the next issue of ABR where we detail a route following the Cumbria Way in the Lake District, it's a truly fantastic ride!

I wouldn't mind having a go at part or all of this.
It would be a weekday(s) at the end of this month sometime, or early September.
Is anyone else interested?

I'm up for this preferably mid-week when it's quieter; the route starts right by my old stomping ground from a previous life: Beachley Barracks ( currently home to 1 RIFLES )

That bloody Offa and his lesbian. He even built a great long trench for her.

At one point you can even ride in the dyke, Here's a vid we took sometime last year.
