Could someone please explain to a non-tekkie like me how I can input those co-ordinates into my Garmin660 to plot a meaningful route?
bestbiking roads.com is full of downloadable routes if only I knew what to do?

I take it you have mapsource on your pc? If so then if you right click on the link, and you should get something like save target? Then save it to your garmin maps folder which should be there somewhere.
Then open mapsource, file, open and select the route, it should be on the map.
With your zumo plugged into the pc, send it to device and it should be in your favourites folder within......I think.

Thought so, when I saw your sig. I have one very similar with that landscape, I'll have to have a trawl through to find it.

I don't seem to have MapSource on my pc. When I bought the Zumo 660 from Touratech, the only cd in the box iy came in is called 'City Navigator'.
Does this mean I have to purchase Mapsource separately? I googled it and it is for sale at around £140
