Wales-there's lovely

Ok-so not long back from our annual trip away & this year it was Wales,a few days touring & finishing off with the West Wales Rally.

Wednesday 7th September saw four of us heading to Dublin for the 8.20am sailing to Holyhead.

Off the ferry & a left off the A5 unto the A5025 clockwise around Anglesey to Pentraeth, another left unto the B5109 to Beaumaris and right unto the A545 along the coast. We soon find a suitable place to stop & get a bite to eat & great views to match

Over the Menai Bridge & unto the lovely A5 to Betws-y-Coed

After a quick coffee we turn briefly unto the B5106 and immediate left after the bridge unto our first un-named road. A nice wee road taking us up & through lovely mature woodland.
A parking area at the top revealed some great views

We follow the wee road back down unto the A5, then take a left unto the A4086. Stopping again to take in the great views and remark about how impressive this area is for biking

We head back down the A4086 and turn unto the A498 & arrive at our first night's campsite on the shore of Llyn Gwynant Lake

Thursday morning started with some rain-but blowed over by the time we got on the road.
Back unto the A498 and followed south for about 2 miles, then left unto another un-named, again taking us through some great Welsh countryside. We join the A4085, then left unto the B4410 at Garreg and join the A470 at Maentwrog & follow south to Mallwyd,another left unto the A458, then after about 2 miles a right unto another un-named road. We follow this road south & unto the B4518, turning right unto an un-named which takes us round the beautiful Llyn Clywedog Reservoir

We re-join the B4518 and follow to Llanidloes, were we turn right unto the A470 & turn right unto the A44 at Llangurig. We were held up here due to an accident involving a motorcyclist who was airlifted to hospital -hopefully will make a full recovery. Yet another great road, but with a reminder of how things can go wrong in the blink of an eye

Another left turn unto the B4343 & A4120 & we arrive at our second night's campsite at Devil's Bridge Falls

So another nights chat with some wine & beer thrown in & we all agree that we are all well impressed at the Welsh roads and scenery thus far.

Friday morning & a cooked breakfast at the cafe before we head off along the B4574 towards the Elan valley
