Bowber Head Campsite

If your looking for a quiet, remote, biker friendly place to camp with access to some of the best trail riding the UK has to offer, then read on.
Bowber Head Campsite, (near Ravenstonedale to the South/West of Kirkby Stephen) is located in the heart of a TET triangle comprising the Yorkshire Dales/Lake District/North Pennines.
Steve (Bower on ABR) & Alison welcomed our party of three, like old friends and really couldn’t do enough for us during our stay on Friday evening.
Both keen trail riders themselves, shared route knowledge and advice over a brew and allowed storage of our bikes in their barn/workshop.
They only have a few spaces with basic facilities (Shower/toilet block) so don’t advertise but they’re happy to receive enquires through word of mouth.
The busier camp sites I checked out on the web a day before our journey were fully booked and it’s difficult to know how far your going to get in a day’s trail riding on the TET, so it was a relief when Alison said ‘Yes we’ve got space so just turn up if you want to stay’.
The site is remote with no shops within walking distance, but the pub (The Fat Lamb) is only half a mile down the road and they do pub grub.
Steve and Alison can be contacted on 015396 23254 and found using the co-ordinates
(54.4230979, -2.4011454).
