Piel Trail Ride
Piel Trail Ride
I will be camping over at the Great Langdale Campsite on Friday 31st May. Its a cracking site, a few miles West of Windermere.
Up and out early on Saturday 1st. Aiming to leave the campsite no later than 0830. This will leave 5 hours of riding before we have to cross to Piel Island (13:30).
Theres a fantastic route Ive done a couple of times now. Route will end around Coniston, then its approx 15 miles to Barrow.
BUT, Im hoping to include a Beach byway as well if theres time, if not, I will be doing it on Sunday after we return from Piel.
The route has some difficult sections (and if you follow the ABR Green Lane articles Id rate some of the route as a grade 4). So, not for beginners, knobblies will be required. Looking to lead me + 7.
So, who's in. Will probably require you camping Friday night as well as its an early start Saturday to get the most out of the time available.

Am I going to be solo?
Come on people, what's up with ya. Cracking trails to be had.
And if there's any who want a more easier ride I can recommend a route, just need someone to lead it.

Yep, riding with gear. Campsite is no where near barrow, so no chance of returning to collect gear. Has to be on bikes.Orlando_Orange wrote:mike, are you riding with gear?

Go on, you know you want to. Meet Friday night, few beers. Early start Saturday. 5 hours trail riding, meet rest at cross over point. Arrive piel 1400, pitch tents and start drinking.
Decamp Sunday. Cross back over sands, and go ride the coast trail if not managed to reach it Saturday.

Hi Mike,
Stick me down, although I might bale out of the real tricky stuff with a fully laden 990??
Up for the Friday night camp though and will ride with you to Piel.
