As I said the walney end is very soft mud but there are two wheel tracks through that dig into the underlying gravel and stone so plenty grip as long you stay in the tracks. There will probably be a couple of deep channels to cross but they change all the time and momentum is key to getting up the other side.
At the island end is a short stone beach then a few hundred yards of mown grassy tracks/walks round the island to the campsite. You can see the route in the aerial photos. It's all easy enough with a bit of commitment.
