Re: Maintenace weekend meets ?
I regularly organise similar days for the lads on ukgser, Airhead day Oil head day Hex head day You get the idea ,very specialised ;) I'd be happy to host one ,but the main problem is the content of the "jobs" A generic trail bike day could create more confusion than actually helping to sh...

Re: XT1200 Hard start
Quite common if you try to fire one up with a discharged battery, floods the motor.
Plugs will need cleaning or swapping.
The solution,,
Charge battery fully before attempting to start (thumbs)

Re: gas torch for stuck nuts ?
The point is that it expands and breaks the "lock". It quickly shrinks back again. All good if it does the trick (thumbs) I'm probably a bit spoilt as I have the kit to heat most things,up to engine block size. Most of the engineering I do requires heat ,up to 250 deg ,fitting valve seats...

Re: MOT Requirements
All bikes need a chain gaurd. if the bike has a dual seat then rear footpegs must be fitted, if removed then its a fail. Not my understanding or experience, Chain guard only needed if pillion footrests fitted. If no pillion footrests,it's not a dual seat. Could be wrong of course but none of my cha...

Re: gas torch for stuck nuts ?
Loctite will release at around 120 deg c If you have one use a hot air gun rather than a blowlamp, Heating the bolt directly will make it expand possibly making it tighter.( the hub will act like a big heat sink) Warm the hub gently till it's up to temp then release all the bolts . Use the same meth...

Re: New toy
The motor is coming apart,it runs fine but I want reliability,
The bike has been well maintained by dealers and indies but it has never been cleaned properly
Mechanically it's really quite good,so these are obviously not as fragile as may be suggested
