Re: Insurance cover for off-road training
raises an interesting point--the definition of "off road"--if its trail riding on a legal byway then normal insurance should apply (as the bike has to be taxed MOTd and insured). However, if its truly offroad then its getting really difficult unless its "thrown in " with a compet...
Re: Brexit
That "I player" review was extremely helpful--talk about deja-vu !!Getting told to sod off by the French in 1963--that we were too late etc--and the facts were that we really did agree with just about all the entry terms. Finally getting into the EEC(European ECONOMIC Community) in Jan 197...

Re: Cree fog lights - wiring advice
Just fit some proper CREE headlight bulbs(fan cooled circuit etc)--much brighter with half the power consumption--and decent bulbs are typically one or two LEDs so they sit in the right place (focal point) for the reflector (designed for an incandescent). I then fit VERY low power consumption catsey...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
The CX had dodgy cam chain tensioners, VF chocolate cams, a couple had those horrible enclosed front discs, CB900s that blew their engines up for fun, earlier twins had centrifugal oil filters that didn't filter very much, petrol tanks that rusted, reg rec failures, cams running straight in the hea...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
So how many people based their buying decision on Honda's past build history, hoping it would be the same on the latest AT? If that's recent history it's one thing but if you're looking back to the '80s when they were at their [strike]worst[/strike] best for throwing rubbish at unsuspecting buyers ...

Re: Flipping useless bumf
I tried a FREEPOST address to No 10--I hope it gums up the works a bit. I had a flip through--starts by saying that we have asked for "facts"--but I found only about 5 lines of dubious heritage --the rest was pure conjecture and scaremongering--and with some bad grammar!!--dodgy Dave !--po...

Re: Hardest wearing block type tyre
644 army front and rear--their secret is the size and the spacing of the blocks--big enough not to deform and "chop" badly, also helped by being that little bit closer together---but the gap is big enough for just about all the mud that you will encounter-- to dig down and find grip--and I...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Bumped into a guy with a new one with 600 miles going in to my local KTM dealers--he has other bikes. I asked him what he thought of it (it has a termignoni silencer already). He said "all-right--apart from the spokes and rims"--I had a look--the rear spokes had gone completely grey with co...

Re: Lowering Suspension - Rear Shock
My WR250R is still tall for a trailie--I tried a lowering link and it completely messed up the rear damping(which is marginal anyway). I have a plan (despite local reshimming) to fit the Race tech gold valve kit plus a lowering spacer--they have plenty of experience in the US on this bike. I current...
