Re: Average age of bike riders generally

Young people are not interested in mechanical things or outdoor things very much any more. The summer of 1976 was probably the high point for all things motorcycling. UK registrations peaked in 1979 and its been downhill all the way. The last time I went to the NEC motorcycle show I was about 50 yea...

Re: KTM 1290 SA off-road tires

A big, powerful, heavy bike will pretty much destroy a knobbly tyre in very little time...but if you go that route Michelin Desert or Dunlop D908R is probably the most durable.

Other than that a Mefo Explorer/Super Explorer will last for ages and handle most surfaces except mud.

Re: Oxford Optimiser misery?

Don't confuse the Oxford Chinese rubbish with another product with nearly the same name. Go on, give us a hint! (thumbs) Regs Simon https://tecmate.com/ They are supposed to be quite good, but I've never had one myself, I just went for the CTEK because it will do car, leisure batteries, etc, so I o...

Re: Green lanes round Pontypridd

If the farmer has previous, then he may well go down this time. However, I suspect that he will get a suspended sentence on the grounds that he has to look after his farm...which he clearly hasn't been doing up until now. ??? It's a bit of a contrast to where I live now in Cornwall, where the local ...

Re: Green lanes round Pontypridd

Fines of up to £50,000 in front of a magistrate, or unlimited, plus up to 6 months inside before a higher court.

That's for the fly tipping. Obstructing the highway is another matter (also criminal).

Re: OS Map question

Some parts of these routes MAY have vehicular rights, but it is unlikely that the whole route will. They are so-called National Trails...a chain of footpaths and other rights of way which is given a trendy name to encourage use by tourists on foot.

It's 'marketing' rather than legal.
