Re: Which is best replacement battery
I'm not keen on Motobatt either, the battery is fine but the stupid bolt on connections come loose. Yuasa have always been good and last a long time. Don't be tempted by a cheap battery of the same ah either. Steve +1 on the stupid terminal design. I wouldn't trust them to stay tight. We fitted one...

Re: Riding the Americas, or attempting to...
Leaving Bogota on Tuesday morning wasn't a great deal of fun. Very busy roads most of the way out and the usual clouds of fumes from the trucks and buses. Still, once out of the city the road was enjoyable and it fairly good condition. The scenery soon turned from man made to natural beauty. We only...

We're in the coffee region near Armenia. Will be in Medellin for Christmas. Our 90 day permits expire soon and we'll need to extend. Tried in Armenia this week but were told we were too early! Looks like you're heading south. Where will you spend Christmas? Steve There are another couple from the f...

Re: Big trip expenditure
We started our RTW in June 2014. Our on the road costs for USA for 2 people was £54.41 per day including things like haircuts, bike maintenance, tyres etc. That does not include medical insurance or flights to the US for us and Tigger. We camped a lot in the national parks and cooked for ourselves ...

Re: own bike V buying a bike abroad
Useing air freight on the way out only takes a day. That way you get the bike at the start of your trip, not two weeks after it if the boat is late. It's much more reliable. And easier to get your bike from the info I found. Motorcycle Express only offered air freight to Canada when we went out in J...

Re: own bike V buying a bike abroad
I would take your own bike for the length of trip that you are planning for the afore mentioned hassles of buying, getting sorted and reselling. With your own bike you'll do the customs paperwork, uncrate it and ride off. Very simple and all done in half a day. Also, all the document match up with y...
