Re: Norton in administration

The R is better than the Z in pure off road terms as quite a bit lighter.
If helpful here’s a 2 week trip I did on the Z and my mate did on a rented R. Both great for this sort of off road travel.

I’ve owned a xt660z since 2016 in South Africa. Have ridden it from Cape Town to Kenya on every road you can imagine, loaded. Its a great option. It is also tall (i am 1.83m and 110kgs and ergonomics are great for me). I also had two XR400s before. Fun off road but not really a dual sport option for...

Re: Husqvarna 701 luggage
Thanks Richard - i’ll check that out. Looking at some of the racks it looks like they might also serve as a decent guard over the silencer so i might fit the racks first and see how i get on with an old cheap bag.

I see that the Innova has made it's way in to the trials fraternity to complement the usual C90/50 brigade. We'll be at Simms hill in the morning if anyone's passing. https://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/133159_MCC_2022_EXETER_programme_a5_28pp__006_-1.pdf Footage here:...

Re: TCAT 2020 June set-off
Hi Mez A lot has happened in the world since your last post on this thread. I assume you had to put your trip on hold? I am assessing the option of getting mine (TAT) going this summer so looking at some of the thorny issues up front. Did you get as far as sorting an insurance plan? If so i’ll drop ...

Swartberg Pass.....WOW
I have added 3 links to google maps below that hope will help but I think some explanation is needed first so you can make best use of them. In terms of ‘must do’s’ on a Western Cape trip mine would be: 1. Baviaanskloof – the best off road route I have ever ridden – absolute must. Advice is to ride ...
