Re: Ecky Thump Rally

Grand weekend--thanks to Steve and some helpers who worked their socks off--I just chilled out and drank a bit. Lovely venue with great facilities--at a pittance of a price. One thing I noted is that the invitation to ABR didn't really gain much support (apart from the usual suspects) in contrast th...

Re: Ecky Thump Rally

great Steve, many thanks. Currently starting work on the R1100RS--but I'm also waiting for bits. Its a voyage of discovery!! I should be able to borrow a bike. I do have my wr250r, but its an opportunity to ride an old airhead. I've submitted an expenses claim for the recovery--we'll see what they s...

Re: Ecky Thump Rally

Fingers crossed that I can make it Neil--but it won't be the R1100RS as I have to wait a few days for parts. I might blag my son's old airhead. Anyway, I will have minimal kit so can I use the on site catering please Steve?

Re: 20 MPH default speed limit in Wales

Just got back from France--down in the Dordogne on the BMR1100RS--what a difference in road condition, verge condition, signage and so on--we really do live in a shithole. Also the local villages do go down to 30 km/h with big speed humps etc--but everyone takes their time and drive politely--what a...

Re: Ecky Thump Rally

Just got recovered from France after a classic (as I found out later) Hall effect failure on my R1100RS. Ended up stranded by the side of the A28 in rain, recovered off then transported to Amiens for a BMW Motorrad dealer to confirm the fault--biggish job and wait for parts. Bike was loaded with all...

Re: what have you done to your bike today??

I've just had a V rated tyre in very good condition repaired properly with a vulcanised "mushroom" plug from the inside--so wheel off. I was at the Overland Event this past weekend and Motoart were selling a very well thought out system that actually (with special tools) injects a mushroom...

Re: Go Big and Ride Small

Ex army drawstring waterproof bags (in green) are excellent for gear in panniers--but I agree--Lidl bags are very robust to. On the strap front BMW do provide straps on both the inner and lid just for that purpose. They are elasticated but could be a little more robust--and could be replaced if I ha...

Re: YULE TIDE RALLY NOW CANCELLED

Thanks for all your efforts John--happy memories. I'm going to the Overland event and the Ecky Thump--I take it that you will still be rallying.
