Re: wanting to set up a touring company...

Scenario 1: You are at the front and the group is strung out. If you have 5 riders that could be well over a kilometre. The guy in position 4 crashes. What do you do? Scenario 2: The final two riders in your group (the guys at the back) are slower than everyone else. What do you do? Scenario 3: The...

The Night Manager, film locations in Morocco

If anyone is watching The Night Manager, episode 5 where the trucks are stopped by US military on the Syrian border, was filmed at Lalla Takerkoust in Morocco. Stick '31.3596575,-8.13332' into Google Maps and switch to satellite view, then compare with the image on TV. The Cairo scenes were filmed i...

Re: expat does it meet the dream

Spain has a huge number of plus points—sun, price of alcohol, food, eating out. Local taxes and utility bills are low. Spanish health care is excellent, there's a 24/7 clinic in a small town 20 minutes away and a full-blown hospital another 20 minutes down the road. When we get our 4x4 serviced at t...

Re: continental tkc80 twinduro

I've done more than 250,000 miles on TKC80s on 1200GS, 1200GSA, 650GS twins, XR400, Tenere and KTM 690. Happy with onroad and wet handling. Also happy with wear rate—I managed Senegal and back on one set, but you need to relax and ride gently to get that sort of mileage. Currently on TKC80s on a Ten...

Re: this borrowed pic in Morocco but where?

I've been visiting Morocco for 44 years—Land Rover and motorbike in 1971/72, since then motorbikes, 4x4s, cars and trekking with mules. I love the isolation of remote areas and ride solo, often for weeks on end. Humour and mime skills get you a long way. Due to safety concerns in Mali the 2008 rally...

Re: this borrowed pic in Morocco but where?

Its at 31.298744, -4.400978 There's quite obvious tracks from the main road. Take a look at the Google Maps satellite view . If you are going to visit I'd like to know what the matrix of about 20 dots are to the south west of the pin. And to the south east there's a rectangular area. This looks lik...

Re: this borrowed pic in Morocco but where?

It's an isolated mountain to the west of Rissani, thought to be an extinct volcano. It was used as a fortress probably by the French and was the location of the opening scenes of 'The Mummy'.

Re: Charley Boorman injured at triumph launch

I would like to know why he wasted his Dakar opportunity? Because he failed to finish, that is a long list of decent riders right there, he probably didn't train enough but we have all been there. Yes, he admits he didn't focus on training in Dubai or wherever it was they went prior to the event. h...

Re: Halfords sale bargain....1/4 drive socket set.

I don't need AF sockets and need to have allen and torx heads in addition to the philips/slotted, so I reckon the 36-piece Professional version is better, though not at the rather silly £50.00 standard price. Wait until it's half that price. But £20 for two sets is certainly good for someone who nee...
