Re: What's your advice regarding tank bags on long trips
Used to use huge tank bags which often caused problems by shifting to one side or the other. Those problems have probably been overcome by Bagalux type tank covers which hold the bag more securely. These days I just have a small bag which is much easier to lug around when off the bike. The only anno...

Re: What would you buy for £5000
Strictly speaking off road riding is not allowed in the UK, France and many other countries except on private land. I presume the OP would like to ride some trails which may be gravel roads, forest tracks etc. which in the main can be tackled on a biggish bike with mixed tyres but which can get quit...

Re: What would you buy for £5000
What’s the issue with the current bike? or are you just looking for a change.

Re: What would you buy for £5000
Too many variables: Do you mean new or new to you? Do you need 2 up or off road capability? How far is your commute? Are you a big bike or small bike person? For me, if I was going back to one bike for regular, but relatively light use with a £5k budget I’d be torn between a Himalayan, 650 Enfield o...

Re: Route advice (again), please
The ‘middle’ route via Limoges may be a good compromise. The first stop is Agen. Roads are good - I ride this route often.

Re: Route advice (again), please
A lot depends on the bikes and whether or not you want to use the odd toll road to get some miles under your wheels. If it were me, 250 miles a day would be about as much as I want to do and I’d use non toll motorways when available just to reduce the hours on the bike. First stop would be somewhere...
Re: Enduro AT
Is the AT on stock suspension? If it is, at that pace, the rider is doing really well to keep up with the much lighter, better suspended enduro bikes.
Enjoyed the video.

Re: Hivernale du Millevache
Claims to be the biggest annual event in France (or possibly Europe?). I see it’s already got more than 2000 signed up. I don’t know what it’s like but I think it’s mostly a muddy field!

Re: I know I’ll be shot down for this….
From my view point I think the rot set in with the coining of the term ‘adventure’. Gone are the days where you just ride your motorbike. The last ‘adventure’ event/rally I went to was an HU mini meet somewhere in the middle of France. A very small meet which in the main was very friendly and enjoya...
