Re: Any car mechanics

If it runs with the MAF disconnected then that's probably the problem, I had some limited success cleaning the MAF on my old Alfa but it didn't last long (couple of thousand miles). Spray cleaners help but never really shift the contamination on the sensor element. I'd agree you could (should) get a...

Re: The future?

60 miles would get me a days commute assuming I didn't take the decision to do anything other than go to work and back, simple visit to parents at weekends is a 150 mile round trip and can't guarantee to be able to charge once there, 3-400 mile weekends are ridiculously common. Until electric can me...

Re: Driverless cars

I wondered about the trucks plan, drivers, logistics etc... What it seems to be is a plan to reduce fuel consumption (major cost component) by getting the trucks into each others slipstream without the risk of nose to tail accidents. Every truck will have a driver to steer the vehicle but speed and ...

Re: Touratech insolvency

Sounds to me more like a cashflow problem, "we've lots of business, lets build a big new distribution center (to take all our shipments from china and send them to customers) and whilst we're at it implement a big new software package (probably SAP)" . . . . "oh shit, the building is ...

Re: Refused fuel..!!

If I brim the tank on my Stelvio when it's on the center stand, then close the cap, the heat from the engine will cause fuel to run out of the tank overflow whilst I'm queuing to pay behind the people trying to buy their weeks shopping in the petrol station (my pet hate) so heat expansion can happen...

Re: latest government plan to ban diesels

Until someone comes up with a credible plan for how all the people who live in houses without off road parking / designated private parking places, are going to be able to charge their vehicles then pure electric won't fly. Think of all the streets with on road parking, how will the power get to the...

Re: Base Layers

I use the same, cheap, stuff I bought from Lidl / Aldi for Skiing, used to shell out for expensive technical stuff but can't really tell the difference when using it and it's cheap enough to buy 3 or 4 sets and wash/rotate them

Re: Hard or soft luggage?

Hard luggage gives (me) a sense of security and a deterrent against casual theft, soft luggage can be less bulky. I've a big pair of Givi (46l?) panniers I use if I need to carry a lot of stuff but also have a pair of thinner (22L) hard cases I prefer to use when touring solo (the Stelvio is wide en...
