Re: BMW GS.... is it time to have one?

Try an GS800. Just as good as the 1200, 90% of the time, better than a 1200, 75% of the time. If that makes any sense  But you'll always have that niggle that you're not on a boxer twin and by the above logic, get a 650 twin, its 70% as good most of the time and 40% better on Tuesdays and Fr...

Re: Is that it then, until next Year?

I'd sooner take the risk of my nice clean garage, than Yorkshire's salt laden roads, over the 6 months of winter, from October to April each year for my bikes, thanks (thumbs) Don't see any pleasure in road riding on cold winter days and having to clean, a salt encrusted bike Trials bike in van, ni...

Re: BMW GS.... is it time to have one?

You will definitely surprise your mates on there sports bikes (thumbs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWSa719VCGg Love this. Just goes to show how much more important a good, smooth riding style is over a flat out and anchor on for quick, and more importantly, safe progress. And the bike running 2...

Re: BMW GS.... is it time to have one?

Go to a main dealer and take a newish one out for a few hours, find your favourite roads and see how you feel. An 1150 won't be too dis-similar to the 12 in feel, justy slower but very, very capable and its the twistys where they really do excel IMHO

Re: Scarred for life.

Would any of use complain if a good looking girl hoisted her skirt and flashed at us? Not in a million years but if any man performed the same stunt in front of a woman they'd be on the sex offenders list in shorter time than it took them to undo their zip. But this story and many others like it ar...

Re: Some local knowledge required please?

A few things, probably viewed a negative. ;) I'd seriously reconsider numbers in any one group. (Will everyone want to ride in a group?) You already know its like herding cats so why create a big headache because as you're the organiser, if it goes awry, you'll get it in the neck. (Maybe make it a s...

Re: Defender 110 TD5 advice?

You could spend many many thousands more, get a newer one that does 3 mpg more....so you're actually quids in with this.
When we ran a Hilux we did some off road days/weekends and one of the guys leading a day had an older 4.2 Landcruiser (2002 ?). It really was superb.

Re: Lets Ban Horses on the Roads.

Nope, they, like cyclists, need no training at all but lets be honest, 90%+ of motorists/truckers/bikers pass their test and do no further training. The onus seems to be on us, other road users, to 2nd guess what may happen and react accordingly...and not get wound up when some winnying bint on hors...
