Many people are suggesting I change to another navigation system other than Garmin ie for me this system is both on the bike following a pre prepared track(more usual) or route or just winging it off the map information on the screen of the GPS unit, that unit will almost certainly have a choice of ...

Sure to be more expert Alp peeps on here than me, but there is such a thing as the Route des Grande Alpes if its good I dont know, from a cost point of view reduce your money spending in Switzerland as much as possible and definitely do not get caught speeding there. I live on a lump so OK and dont think the rain has been quite so bad locally But the larger rivers in the area looking impressive yesterday, the little bike boys out the weekend report the trails are really chopped up in places and the well known Sarn Helen to be impassable due to a bridge out. OK first thank you to all contributors As you suggested Asgard I just reinstalled MS seems to be opening perfect now no uninstall required so that looks like a winner thank you, DUH why did I not try that?. just for reference I tried to copy and paste BC x86 into the prog default for gpx no joy only...

thanks for the help so far hp pavilion is the make of laptop running windows 10 about 4 years old difficult to imagine that I had done anything to uninstall MS which is as old as the laptop, basecamp is also as old as I never do any of the prompted updates will look later into the other info posted,...

that sounds like the montana at least thinks that your using a data transfer cable, I dont see how going direct to the battery will change that, or am I misunderstanding?
