Re: ABR Midlands Rally 2017 sign up thread (7th-9th July)

Well the Guzzi is very unlikely to be fixed in time for this event, may not even be ready for its holiday to Italy :( Apparently the garage has three bikes in for the same reason and is being told that parts are on 2-3 week delivery (plus shipping), Looks like I might have to take the car over to th...

Re: Navigating

Towns/Cities and major road numbers on a note taped to tank for the long distance bits.
Old car Sat Nav for the last 5/10 miles into a city/town/hotel/campsite (wrapped in clingfilm to waterproof the screen / digitiser)
Map in the luggage for when it all goes wrong (remarkably often)

I love the look of them, and appreciate the engineering, but always found them a bit 'boring'. My wife, who owned one for 6 years, really rated it though.
Hope you have great times with it.

Re: Gloves

Halvarssons. I had problems getting gloves that were big enough, some manufacturers XXL were too tight in some cases, but Halvarssons do actually make some big gloves. I find gloves are like helmets in a way that you need to visit a shop and try em. No good guessing and just buying on Internet. +1 ...

Wait until it gets into the valve stem, especially with right angled valves, and solidifies so you can't get air into the tyre

About the only thing that would tempt me to a bike specific one is the windy route options. Steve +1 on the old car ones, I've got three old Gar...

Re: Do you trust bike dealers?

In general I'm very cautious of dealers until they've earned my trust. I double check servicing when I can (mark filters etc) and always ask for removed parts to be kept for my inspection if it's not a routine change and I'm paying for the replacements, all the good dealers I use are quite happy to ...
