Headed out from Tain and saw the sun close to Altnahara, then off up a delightful road to the Dun Dornaigil broch, past Loch Eribol and it's tombola, then to the "delights" of Durness, must be unpleasant for those who went to live there to escape the madding crowd. Lunch stop at Balnakiel ...

We might have passed each other as I stopped in Tain over the weekend and yesterday headed up to the north coast, out of the fog just before Altnahara past Dun Dornaigil Broch and then onto the Stoer Head lighthouse. Loads of tourists at Durness, everywhere else wasn't too bad. Quick ice cream stop ...

Why are midges so prevalent in the Western Highlands? We did the Cairngorms & Deeside the other weekend and there were none We went to the other side ...near Ullapool - out they came All you ever wanted to know about the little helpers that keep Scotland less densely populated than England etc:...

When people are camping a few feet from the road it it's not exactly what I'd call "wild" is it?
If it is banned hopefully it'll be say, "100m from the nearest track / road / footpath / car park / house" to be classified as ok.
