Re: French auto rail

I tried the Dusseldorf to Innsbruck moto train, it was shit. I took a 690r on it, heading to the Balkans. I wanted to reduce the boring road miles through Germany. Did I mention it was shit? Slow, noisy and uncomfortable. Couldn't have put it any better. If only Bikeshuttle went to the south of Fra...

Re: Best portable security?

I use a Multi-lock padlock and KryptoFlex cable when travelling and Abus granite chain and ground anchor at home. The Multi-lock also doubles as a disc lock and the cable is 1.8m long X 10mm thick and pvc coated, lock a couple of bikes together and it loops up to be stored in the pannier lid (thumbs...

Re: Is the B500 Black forest road worth doing in July - (to Stella Alpina)?

FWIW I think the best bit is south of Baden Baden about 25-30 miles of good road. Parts of the road are spoiled by lowered speed limits and the even more impending plain police bikes out there who are more than happy to relieve you of many euro's :pinch: Like others have said, better midweek :)

Re: Manx Ferrys!! OMG ££££

Manx GP starts 20th August :) Its not cheap; however I suppose the demand is never there unless it is the TT or GP so taking into account operating cost's and low numbers and no competition we will always pay too much I suppose. I paid £169 back in 2006 for the ManxGP, My ferry to France the same ye...

Re: Snowdonia - Camp sites

I like the one on the a5 before Capel curig, not sure what its called we've always just called it the camp site that floods, although I cant actually ever remember seeing it flood. Nice big field, next to the river, toilets and shower and pretty cheap. Just about walking distance to the pub and har...

Re: GoPros and other devices

I don't think a law would be enforced, we cant enforce the "driving while using a mobile phone or whatever it is" due to the lack of police these days. I use mine when touring, not videoing but set to taking pictures every 60 seconds (thumbs)

I went for a ride to the Carousel at Southport today, I nodded to every bike on my travels and hardly any nodded back. Is it because I ride a GS

Re: F800GS ADV V R1200GS

Just Looking at the two bikes and it appears the F800GS ADV is 229Kg and the R1200GS is 212Kg and even the R1200GS ADV is showing 220Kg. I thought the 800 being chain drive would be lighter, what am I missing, I thought the shaft drive bikes would weigh a lot more. I was looking at a possible purch...

Re: Van info wanted

I have a Toyota Hiace (regius) 2.7 petrol with LPG conversion 145hp and its great. 2-8 seats (thumbs) only get 24mpg on the gas but at 49pence a litre I can live with that :)
