Re: Booking Ferry to Amsterdam
I was wondering what sort of prices you guys are paying to get across to Holland. Seems to be quite big variations in prices depending on your choice to operator, route, cabins included or not and times of sailing. I'm booked with Stena from Harwich to Rotterdam on a Saturday day time sailing in Jun...

Re: Crap Joke time
A chap gets stopped for speeding after trying to outrun the pursuing police car. The officer, who is at the end of his shift, tells the driver if he can come up with an original excuse for falling to stop, he will let him off with a verbal caution. The chap thinks for a few seconds and says "My...

Re: Harley,s can cover the miles ?
As I've mentioned before, rode my Electra Glide all over Europe, Alps and Pyrenees etc, the deserts of west USA, for 11 years. Might not be the fastest or easiest in negotiating hairpins, but without question has been the most reliable and most comfortable bike I've ridden. Would certainly get anoth...

Re: 400 Mile Machines... Whats your bikes record?
I got 1000kms out of my Ford C Max 1.6 Tdi when driving up from southern France a few years back. Does that count? If it doesn't, can't beat 230 miles on two wheels I'm afraid.

Re: Hooped bivy
Don't think of it as a tent, just think of it as a waterproof sleeping bag. OK on it's own in dry conditions, but the very least you'll need in the wet is a tarp, for dressing/undressing and cooking etc. You really can't beat a decent tent if you want to enjoy as a posed to endure your trip. Well, y...

Re: Atlantic way Ireland
Well you know what they say " The Sun shines on the righteous " :S That, or just incredibly jammy I think the expression is. After the Ireland trip last year, it got me thinking about just how many rainy days I'd been subjected to whilst on my annual biking trips, both in Europe and the w...

Re: Atlantic way Ireland
Leave your waterproofs at home! I've had two fortnights over there and it's only rained on one day both times! Sorry to hear about the rainy days, you must have been really unlucky. I rode the WAW south to north in June last year, then back down the middle. Took 13 days, 2 sets of waterproo...
