Re: bmw 1200 final drive rebuild

I've rebuilt quite a few of these being an ex BMW dealer tech. How do you get the split pins out that hold in the pinion shaft bearing ??????? Most of the time they would break off. NIGHTMARE !!! Re: Is this a bit tight? Or is it just me?

You told him to !!!! And everyone has a boss to answer too. Mail order isn't just the cost. It's the hassle of packaging and posting.

Anyway. What you doing going to a main dealer for a couple of pissy bolts. You can get a BAG of them off ebay for the same price.

Re: I want the impossible, can you recommend it?

On long trips, I always take a 'Kaybul' type lock. Conventional chains are too heavy and noisy. U-locks don't fit around anything. The actual lock I have is discontinued now but you can get the idea from this link. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/locks-chains/motrax-kaybul-wire-lock It's a ...

Re: Re: Bmw Gs adv vibration

Stripped it out and the crown wheel bearing in the final drive is knackered , can this be replaced or best to get a replacement final drive ? How much play is there ? A little is okay... Yes you can change them yourself. You need a shop press and some pretty specialist seal drivers or you will make...

Re: bmw x challenge front sprocket

Big socket and a breaker bar. Put it in gear and have a friend stand on the back brake.

Don't take the chain off until the nut is loose.
