Re: £80 million lost in revenue since scrapping tax disks.
Just strengthens the argunment for adding it to fuel.. with petrol prices at such a low, now would be the time to add Excise duty.. It cant be that hard to work out how much the average road user does and work out a shared cost...It would encourage people to buy more fuel efficient tranpsort and re...

Re: RIP David Bowie
Very sad to hear this. A unique and creative artist who will be sorely missed. I don't know how Ricky Gervais managed to talk him into appearing on his Extra's show but I thought he was absolutely brilliant:- http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xnleeu_extras-david-bowie_shortfilms R.I.P. David Bowie

Re: Riding with empty panniers.
I had BMW cases on my old GSA and found that we did go away, I ended up
carrying everyone else's old tat.
With my new bike, I didn't order the boxes and will just use my old Oxford soft sports panniers.

Re: Is there a way of securing mounted Sat Navs??
I have a Nav V on my GSA and I would never leave it in the cradle while the bike is unattended, it only takes a few seconds to unlatch it and put it somewhere safe(r).

Re: BMW K1600.
I borrowed one while my GSA was in for a service.
Didn't like it, not for me I'm afraid.

Re: GS800....S1000XR...GS1200 LC.
My GSA has gear shift assist pro. When I first got it, being mechanically sympathetic, I was fairly gentle with the gear pedal and the shifts were jerky. I tried being a bit more brutal and it smoothed right out. Down changes are still jerky though, only tend to use it changing up.

Steve,
Totally agree. I first saw the XR at the Milan show in 2014 and thought it could be the bike for me. When I tested one in May, I was very disappointed, didn't like the cramped riding position or vibes. Went for a GSA LC instead.

Re: BMW GS Adventure or Triumph Explorer??
They are both excellent bikes but very different. I test rode both (plus the S1000XR) and decided on the GS Adventure. I'd owned a twin cam GSA and a KTM 1190 Adventure before hand. The Adventure has much better fuel range and better wind protection than the standard GS. Personally I really like the...

Have a look on the UKGSER forum, there is an XR section on there (thumbs)
