I have been using E12's on mine, had two pairs now, backs wear pretty fast but they do grip well in anything but deep mud and you can hussle on the road with them, sidewalls are like concrete on the rear esecially.

He was a handy club racer and loved the sport, as has been said he had the money to do everything properly and profesionally, raced with him at Hottrax Endurance events and his team were always immaculately turned out and he did quite well. RIP.

As a sideways answer to your question I have always 'double' tubed whenever not using mooses. IE an Extra heavy dudy tube and then a heavy duty tube cut the valve out of it and split it all the way round the inner diameter, then put that over the other tube, a massive thorn will go through the lot, ...
