Re: the cost of RTW travel
Elle, What makes going to NZ difficult, or are thinking of emigrating there ? Sorry Ray, it was in response to Pinball's question about me going - if I ride to NZ (or beyond), it's not likely that I'll come back Redmurty wrote: NZ looking for plumbers ? may have to retrain. Re: Any good motorbike books on Denmark, Norway and Sweden??
I have the Lonely Planet guides for both Sweden and Norway if you want them.
I read them both before I went really for backpackers but not too bad with good tips on budget hotels
PM me if your interested

Re: What caused this?
It was the bike that caused the incident (from what we can see) I dearly wish I could run to the defence of the people riding motorbikes, there is not enough video to show what really happened, the person at 20-25sec had a testosterone overdose and from the bits we can see certainly looks as though ...

I'm a similar technophobic fool or maybe a Luddite but I have just forked out on an all singing and dancing garmin. It can have normal sat nav mapping installed plus the topographical stuff. I've been assured using openstreetmaps.org is easy too and free some of which are routable. No doubt I'll be ...

Re: FFS......
On a long haul, overlanding for a year or more completely self sufficient...Brilliant idea, dont think they have been made for the weekend rally rider. Have a look at the trailers available for overlanding pushbikes. Much better weight distribution, Would use it with a chain drive only though, Sproc...

Re: roadbook paper
Yes as Richard says, it will react to sunlight so you wont be able to keep them long, but I suppose you'll be using them with hand written notes any way.
IF you can get the paper into a printer then you could use this
