Re: Do-it-all (adv) tyres

Heidenau K60s for me. My riding is a mixture of mostly road and some hard pack gravel and forest type tracks on a CRF 250 Rally. Got about 8000 miles out of the rear and the fronts still going strong at 10,000 miles. For me they've got good on road grip, wet or dry, work well on the type tracks I de...

Take your helmet off, smile sweetly and carry on. Life has other problems more worthy of concern than this. Just my view of course.

Re: The next step....

Had a focus thron speed for four years now and absolutely love it. It's carried me all over near where I live and has a range of over 100 miles in the right conditions (down here in south Devon it's about 45 to 50 miles, but we have blooming big hills! Cycling the Nantes-Brest canal a few years ago ...

Re: Solo touring and off road (e.g. tet), small ADV bike suggestions

That looks really nice Minky. It’s strange that the rally is taller than the L but according to cycle ergonomics the knee and hip angles are greater on the L ! Very strange, the suspension travels about an inch longer at both ends, hence the seat height, but the seat and pegs have the same relation...

Re: Solo touring and off road (e.g. tet), small ADV bike suggestions

The CFR Rally looks like a nice package for under £5000 but how substantial are the plastics that are covering the engine ? The only reason to buy a CRF is if you are going off road (much better road bikes for that money if taking into account very low miles nearly new bikes) and those nice shiny p...

Re: Solo touring and off road (e.g. tet), small ADV bike suggestions

Sounds great Slowboy.... I am edging toward the rally I think... Your trips this year sound ace too. What do you find a reasonable cruising speed fully loaded, and what kind of distance (on road) do you make on a decent day? Totally with you on the "if you drop it, need confidence about pickin...

Crf 250 Rally for me (6'1" 13.0 stone). It carried me up the length of France last year, and all over the place in the UK last year, with around 11,500 miles in total. This year it's off to Germany for a fortnight in June (dambuster tour and Black Forest) and over to the Dolomites via Switzerla...

Re: Xt600 or Crf250 for Trans Pyrenees

Thanks for the replies. I am definitely sold on the CRF. What suspension mods have been done? Has anyone just changed the rear shock spring? I've done no suspension mods on mine, but I am a relatively slim 85kg (6' tall). The word on the street is that the YSS shock is a great replacement for the s...
