Re: RAC beware
You do need to check the extent of your cover. My insurance covers vehicle breakdown, nor 'rider breakdown' so I would not be covered for this type of recovery either. This is in my small print. Also in the small print in very many policies is that this type of cover does not cover getting the bike ...

Re: Breakdown cover for older motorcycles
From Ireland I am insured with Carol Nash and have comprehensive cover on 4 bikes [varying 26-39 years old] for just over €300 90-100bhp. It also includes legal fees cover which I have had to use. That includes business use [self employed], pulling a trailer on two of them, EU wide cover and EU wide...

Re: 12 months European insurance cover....
No MOT in Ireland either. Some of us leave our bikes in Spain etc. My daughter lives in Anterp so a Belgian acquisition is next. I thought Spanish law required vehicles to be Spanish registered once they'd been in the country for six months. It could do but we move them between Spain and France.

Re: advice wanted please
I had similar issues in 1994, got a Ford Mondeo, binned it after so much trouble they could not fix and got a Peugeot 405 GTX that I love and still have. But for business I got a new Mercedes in 2000 that ended up legal and a big payout over numerous problems and serious safety issues. I only use ol...

Re: Don’t crash in Europe
I travel from Ireland. EHIC covers a lot for me as in most of the medical bills and hospitals locally but thats the limit . I have private health insurance, that covers the medical bits not covered by the EHIC. A top up Annual All country Travel Policy on top of that for 52 euros covers everything i...
