The Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company started making golf carts the same year William "Willie G" Davidson joined the company. That was in 1963. The first carts were three wheelers and later they added the four wheel versions.

Pure Marketing decisions by the sound of it Perhaps a way to keep the "R" price up? - It is more money despite the lack of ABS Or make them a little more desirable? - rode both versions and prefer the "R" spec engine (for obvious reasons!) I bought the "R" because I cut...

Learned this lesson the hard way! New tyre in Scotland last year whilst on a 2 week trip (inc Thunder In the Glens) A large screw wrecked a tyre with some life left so it was replaced Good service - quick turn around by the Glasgow HD dealer However ... 1st turn out of dealership (at ~5mph) - ended ...

PS - the ABS may be well worth having (for road use) ...
As my R's back wheel seems to lock up quite easily
It could be wound up too tightly or it could be just me (?)
My last bike (Buell) had such poor back brakes that you could NOT lock up if you tried
