Re: got a scottoiler?

Scottoiler oil = cheap oil with dye in it. You can use ANYTHING in there as long as it's a metal lubricant. I use engine oil or transmission fluid or chainsaw oil or anything I have lying around. Re: Breaking the Bead

Like they say "Those who can't teach". That's just a daft thing people say. It's like most people who teach automotive. They've got all the quals but very little or up to date experiences. Interesting - where do you get your figures? Or is it just wild guess? Anyway, I'm waffling...

Re: Breaking the Bead

I've been waiting for someone to tell about the other way, but no-one has. You just gently drive a few yards on the flat tyre and that does the trick. If you have no feeling for what is the right amount, don't bother.

Re: Breaking the Bead

Selous, I replaced my tyres about a month ago for Tourance front and rear. The tyres coming off were Mitas. It took me 6 hours to do my rear tyre!!! Never known a job like it. I was using a 15 ton hydraulic jack under the front of my Land Rover but all it was doing was lifting the Land Rover and no...

Re: got a scottoiler?

I always thought the point of a scottoiler was to keep your chain clean, not really to lubricate it ! Most chains are O or X ring type these days, with the lubrication sealed inside for life . So the scottoiler oil doesn't/shouldn't really penetrate the seals to lubricate the rollers anyway. The sc...

Re: Guided tours to Germany

I see where you're coming from with the insult bit, when we were over at the dams a couple of yrs ago we went into a local bar downstream of the Eider Dam and the locals were very frosty towards us, to the point of refusing to accept a drink from us. A statue in the village centre of a woman holdin...

Re: A 'Star Cast' - will they hate me for describing them that way?

Sorry but am I missing something here? I know james will probably not like me asking a question like this but I know many people from face to face conversations see it from my view point. Everyone that writes 'adventure' or just does a trip is not really doing anything exceptional barring Cathy Bir...

Re: Mundo sahara has stopped

Does anyone remember Bear Grylls when he was on a severe trip and was found in an expensive hotel, roughing it?

At least he has suitable boilersuits to do the repair in!

Only kidding! :)

Thanks for the updates gents :)

Mundo sahara has stopped

My information is that Austin Vince is enjoying a hotel in Zagora, with his bike collapsed.

You heard it here first :)

Any more, anyone?
