I think it's safe to say, 'the adventure bike scene' has always been around. Just look at some of the stories dating back to the beginning of the last century. It's just the bikes that have changed, and due to all the reasons above as mentioned by others. No doubt the bikes will continue to change, ...
Nice little piece there Mosel, thanks. I'm planning on the Nordkapp trip next summer, and although I'll have full camping gear, I wondered what my chances are of turning up on spec at a site and finding available basic cabins without booking in advance? I have also read somewhere that one can expect...
I think you only need book 1 day ahead to get the regular price. In the past, on trips where I haven't planned to return on any particular date, I've just used the old smart phone to book my crossing 2 or 3 days in advance when heading homeward. Just turning up unannounced as it were, is only for th...

Now I'm no expert in first dates, but I've married twice so I got it right on two occasions. If memory serves me right, on both these occasions I dressed my age. When I was 17 I dressed like a 17 year old, and at 36 I dressed like a, you guessed it, a 36 year old. Come to think of it, both times I w...

Now there's a thing! Virtually did the same trip my self this morning, but didn't leave home until around 10am. Had to do a bit of hoovering and washing up before I got a day pass. Abergavenny for morning coffee around 11:30. Lunch on the seafront Aberystwyth at about 2pm then the mother of all ride...
Happened upon an accident in the Cotswolds 10 or 11 years back, where a pheasant took off in front of a biker. The rider saw it and backed off, ducked just in time, but his unfortunate Misses caught it head on knocking her clean off the back of the bike and breaking a leg. Can't remember what happen...

After two and a half months away, uncovered the beast for the first time this year, unplugged the Optimate and fired her up ready for a ride to the dealers tomorrow morning for a recall. Hopefully shouldn't take too long, then the rest of the day's mine.

Do you know if you've any of that tyre sealant green gunk stuff in, if they're tubeless. Just that I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be the sealant was corroding the valve seat apparently. The remedy was to do away with the sealant, clean the valve seat and replace the valve. Problem sol...

Two days ago I did a price comparison between the two Brittany Ferry Spanish options. Based on two guys with two bikes sharing a cabin on a one way trip from Santander to Portsmonth at the end of September. The Economie fare leaving Sunday was £75 cheaper than the Monday sailing, and £135 cheaper th...
If you can change your dates to early September, there's always European Bike Week in Faaker See, Southern Austria. OK, it's mainly Harley and all the entertainment to provided free of charge by Harley, but it's open to, and attended by all makes and models. Great location, great camp sites, great r...
