Re: what will you wear on your first date?

Now I'm no expert in first dates, but I've married twice so I got it right on two occasions. If memory serves me right, on both these occasions I dressed my age. When I was 17 I dressed like a 17 year old, and at 36 I dressed like a, you guessed it, a 36 year old. Come to think of it, both times I w...

Re: Early morning solo ride

Now there's a thing! Virtually did the same trip my self this morning, but didn't leave home until around 10am. Had to do a bit of hoovering and washing up before I got a day pass. Abergavenny for morning coffee around 11:30. Lunch on the seafront Aberystwyth at about 2pm then the mother of all ride...

Re: Ducking close call !!

Happened upon an accident in the Cotswolds 10 or 11 years back, where a pheasant took off in front of a biker. The rider saw it and backed off, ducked just in time, but his unfortunate Misses caught it head on knocking her clean off the back of the bike and breaking a leg. Can't remember what happen...

Re: what have you done to your the bike today??

After two and a half months away, uncovered the beast for the first time this year, unplugged the Optimate and fired her up ready for a ride to the dealers tomorrow morning for a recall. Hopefully shouldn't take too long, then the rest of the day's mine.

Re: Tyre keeps deflating! Help!!!

Do you know if you've any of that tyre sealant green gunk stuff in, if they're tubeless. Just that I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be the sealant was corroding the valve seat apparently. The remedy was to do away with the sealant, clean the valve seat and replace the valve. Problem sol...

Re: Brittany ferries , new budget service to Spain

Two days ago I did a price comparison between the two Brittany Ferry Spanish options. Based on two guys with two bikes sharing a cabin on a one way trip from Santander to Portsmonth at the end of September. The Economie fare leaving Sunday was £75 cheaper than the Monday sailing, and £135 cheaper th...

Re: Continental Rallies

If you can change your dates to early September, there's always European Bike Week in Faaker See, Southern Austria. OK, it's mainly Harley and all the entertainment to provided free of charge by Harley, but it's open to, and attended by all makes and models. Great location, great camp sites, great r...

Re: Costs getting to the south of France

LOL, I think pikeys terrorising the passengers is probably quite a rare event. Besides I'm 6ft, 16 stone, ugly and particularly when clad in armoured motorcycle gear and carrying a helmet, I don't tend to find yobs cause me that much trouble Happened to me on a ferry back from Ireland in 2006. I'm 6...

Re: Costs getting to the south of France

I guess it all depends on what your priorities are. If it's to save time and money, then fly. If it's to have yourself a mini cruise, then ferry to Spain. If it's to have fun on the bike, then Chunnel, and set your satnav to avoid toll roads (some decent toll free motorway sections heading south, li...

Re: Has anyone used the LD Lines ferry to Spain?

Thanks for this, actually I was wondering abut the Gijón route - so we've got our wired crossed Sorry mate, can't help. Never been to Gijon. Just looked at the Brittany Ferries Economie fares, and they are between £75 and £135 cheaper in September for 2 bikes and riders sharing a cabin. I think they...
