Due to your mileage and time restrictions I don’t think Les Grande Routes des Alpes is really an option. Assuming you’re starting and finishing in Munich, then I suggest the Deutsche Alpenstrasse, with a spin around the Rossfeldstrasse and a visit to the Eagles Nest.

Like the top heavy Explorers, as mentioned on previous posts about my inability to pack light, I’ve used engine bar panniers on several trips now, and haven’t noticed any change re handling or fuel consumption.

Didn’t Ewan and Charlie have that problem in Russia on their LWR. Vaguely remember them having to manhandle them in to a carriage on the QT.

Thirteenth and middle letter of the alphabet, can’t be pronounced with your lips together, and represents the figure one thousand in Roman numerals, although not during Roman times apparently.

PS. How many of you are now going to try and pronounce the letter M with your lips together?

Can thoroughly recommend the Passo Grau near Cortina d’Ampezzo. Rode it en route to Dubrovnik a couple of years back. So glad I did, well worth it.

Carcassonne in a day is just asking to pick up some speeding fines. I did it in two days and still managed to pick up a €45 ticket. Your route is certainly achievable in 8 days, plus time spent on the ferries on top, but you’ll want to stop and eat and take a few photos I guess. Done the trans Pyren...
