Re: Tyres - Again

Just ridden 2,000 miles down to Nice and back via the French Alps and the Vercors, on the new Anakee Adventure tyre on my fully laden one up Explorer. All tarmac and mainly dry. Was very impressed with the feel and handling in both wet and dry. No complaints whatsoever. If it returns in excess of 8k...

Re: weather in europe currently

Just got back last night after 10 days riding from Le Havre to Nice and back via the French Alps. 33C at the beginning riding across central France, mid to high 20s in the Alps and on the Med. Mid teens and bloody windy coming back. Two 10 minutes wet spells during the entire trip.

Re: Tyres - Again

Took the new Anakee Adventure out for a spin on Tuesday before heading off to the Alps tomorrow evening. Rode on a mixture of wet and dry Cotswold roads, and to be honest felt pretty good. No reservations about my upcoming trip. Will report back in a couple of weeks.

Best look at the French department sites for up to date information, like this one: http://inforoute.hautes-alpes.fr/www/index.html
Thanks for posting this. Appears way more accurate and currently showing most passes opening this weekend.

Les Grande Route des Alpes - Current info?

I’m off to the French Alps next week, half hoping to ride Les Grande Route from Annecy to Nice, overnight ferry to Le Havre on Friday. I’ve ridden Les Grande Route a few times, but not quite this early in the year. Google maps show the high passes still closed, with opening dates in mid June. I gues...

Re: EU. In or out?

The Remainers seem to have gone quiet. Are they asking for a re-vote? ;) I thought there might have been some observations on the EU election results by now. Ok, if you take the Labour and Tory votes and assume they’re still 51-49 in favour of leaving. Then add those percentages to those who voted ...

Again, probably not to everyone’s taste.

You rate this cockwomble?
As a political satirist, I find him pleasantly amusing. Would I vote for him to be Prime Minister? I think not. After all, what are the chances?

Re: Meals on two wheels.

Great stuff and real tasty. Lived on this stuff on my trip up to the Nordkapp and back in 2016. Took the full set and mixed with either quick cook pasta or quick cook rice. In fact filled one pannier with food before leaving the UK, and only needed to buy bread and fruit enroute. Actually got the ti...
