Re: Aprilia Pegaso Nightmare

Personally I have no faith in any garage whether they are dealer for your make or not. You need to find out where and how the crankcase breather works on this engine sometimes this can be damaged/blocked by overfilling the engine and may not work properly even after the level has been reduced. There...

Re: Who's top dog in 'adventure' and 'touring'?

'Touring' is a theme that's been around for years. The marketing guys got hold of it when they wanted to differentiate between sportsbikes, sports tourers and tourers. Like most things in life, if you have no imagination you buy into the category that you think you want to be in. If you have some im...

Re: Who's top dog in 'adventure' and 'touring'?

So why are we on the 'Adventure Bike Rider' forum then. You can get a free sticker. I knew there had to be a reason. If you want to be a true 'adventure tourer' and set yourself apart from the run of the mill tourer you have to be prepared to ride 100's of miles on motorways on nearly flat TKCs or ...

Re: Who's top dog in 'adventure' and 'touring'?

Adventure is now whatever the marketing department of BMW and Touratech tell us what it is. Drop a bit of cash on a road bike with knobbly tyres on, a pair of metal boxes and a goretex suit and hey presto, you're not a motorcyclist, you're an Adventure Biker! Congratulations, you can now enter the ...

Re:Who's top dog in 'adventure' and 'touring'?

'adventure' has no strict definition Sells bikes though. We used to have trail bikes - even the original GS's were refered to as trail bikes then they started to get too big for anything more serious than a gravel road so the manufacturers slowly eroded away any of the off road cred such as 21" fro...

Re: Should I ???????????/

Crude and agricultural is the way I'd describe it. It's called character! I've got a Mk2 Le Mans which I've had from new. I've had lots of bikes in between times which I've moved on but it's hard to beat the Guzzi's charm (and reliability). I don't agree that it was outclassed by Jap stuff at the t...

Re: What do you need for the RTW ride

Oy! 1200GS riders seem to have taken my OP as me trying to give advice. Hi Chas Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack your post nor did I think you were trying to give advice. I was just telling what has happened to us - as soon as we mention 1200GS most folk just automatically go into doom mode - let's...

Re: Total Motorcycle Immersion

I was 'bike only' for several years when I lived in the UK. Here in France I make my living using heavy, bulky tools so have always had vans as well.
