Re: EU. In or out?

Just a small point but Article 50 was triggered in 2017 not 2016 so I reckon they didn’t know what to do straight after the referendum anyway, otherwise they would have triggered it earlier.

Re: EU. In or out?

I googled the wording of the referendum that we all voted in...”Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?”...and that was it. No mention of the process or the terms or the timescale. Of course, since then we’ve all learnt about Article 50 and the di...

Re: EU. In or out?

Jeremy Corbyn will never help the Conservatives to overcome this 'problem' as his sole aim is to get into power. Much the same as no Conservative MP will ever vote against the Government if there is a chance that doing so would lead to a Labour Government getting into power. It all about party polit...

On 'facts'...

Lots of the silly stories about the EU (banning double-decker buses and bent bananas etc) were the work of an inventive Daily Telegraph journalist stationed in Brussels.

His name was

Boris Johnson.
I never knew that either :o . This is turning into a proper School day... :) .

Re: EU. In or out?

<snip> the NC500 in Scotland and a lot of roads in Cornwall were financed by the EU <snip> Only a tiny section of road on the NC 500 was part-funded by the EU, not the whole thing. It's important to make this clear, otherwise the next thing you know the Daily Mail will be running a headline story a...

Re: Bike won’t start

If you changed the battery you maybe wiggled/dislodged the connecting wires whilst doing so. I know that when I change a battery I always end up moving the wires at the same time just to get access to the battery box or whilst trying to fit in the tight box (ooh argh, missus  ). That would fall...

Re: EU. In or out?

Everyday is a school day...I never knew that the NC500 in Scotland and a lot of roads in Cornwall were financed by the EU :o .

(a small point but I think it highlights the lack of knowledge around the whole issue).

Re: EU. In or out?

I still dislike the EU as the club it is now, as I believe they do not truly want us, just our financial contribution, and it will always be run for the benefit of Germany as they have so many EU economies in debt to them. I don't see the point of being in a gang where nobody wants you. Yes, I thin...
