Re: The right to repair

I read the following book nearly 10 years ago to try and make sense of all the rhetoric regarding the effectiveness of renewable energy to slow down global warming as appose to being dependant on ever decreasing fossil fuels. David Mackay provides easy to understand, compelling evidence as to the co...

Re: The right to repair

We had this discussion recently when I was throwing away all my socks with holes in, my mum said how she used to repair them years ago, now they are thrown away for having a hole in the toe. I draw the line at darning socks! Instead, I give ‘holed’ socks one final use in the garage. I wear them on ...

Re: The right to repair

Financial and self worth values that many of us still cling to, especially now that we realise how our current society with it's throw away mentality is screwing things up around the world. Quite right Hugh. I get a great sense of satisfaction from repairing things. And the way my pension is lookin...

Many manufacturers profit by engineering their products to deter repairers, even to the extent of sabotaging their own goods so that parts break if repairs are attempted!
This ‘preventative’ attitude from manufacturers is shameful.

I just used bin bags for my wife, make sure you dig at least 1.5 m deep, avoid peatty soil and a bit of quick lime helps.

I often tell my wife that I’ve got a real soft spot for her.

I won’t disclose the coordinates as it might incriminate me one day.

Re: Three weeks in Patagonia - January 2019

Thanks for posting.

My current work/life balance is far too one sided and has been for far too long. A trip like this would be the perfect tonic until I can escape for longer again.

Nice to see the big bikes being thrown around.

The lardy GS needs more appropriate tyres though....

I’ve just checked the terms page and it does actually say the tickets are ‘non transferable’.

Perhaps Alun can confirm if it will be an issue or not?

Re: Brenhden's TET

Thanks for sharing your latests TET instalment with us Brenhden. I have fond memories of Beer. My family and I once rented a holiday cottage there. We got chatting to a fisherman down at the harbour as he sat there mending his nets. A proper old sea dog, with a Captain Birdseye beard. I asked him “H...
