Re: Interesting experience at my local bmw dealer today.

Googled F800GS service schedule and found this:

So clutch play is checked and adjusted, but the chain is only checked!

Re: Interesting experience at Roy Pidcocks Derbyshire today.

Is checking and adjusting the chain as necessary not part of the service on an F800?

Re: Oford Mondial laminated suit

I used one of these jackets, and #2 trousers on a trip to France last summer: http://www.oxfordproducts.com/motorcycle/brands/oxford/rider_wear/textile_jackets/oxford_montreal_30_textile_jacket_tech_black/ For me it was a bit sweaty on the hotest days, but opening up the cuff helped the airflow thro...

Re: Getting my bike down to Folkestone from Scotland

Is the ferry from Hull a cheaper option? An extra couple of hours south, but still easy to avoid the worst of the M6 / M1 / M25 etc, and they seem to know how to load people on and off a ferry. Zeebrugge is a bit south of Ijmuiden and Rotterdam is about the same as Ijmuiden.

Re: Scotland trip advice

AirBnB and booking.com etc will help give a good idea of availability of prices and availability. I've used Thurso, lots of options there even if it's not as pretty as some o...

Re: Montana 680T

Just ordered a Montana 680T for use in Europe. This is for a mix of on road / off road navigation. Can anyone advise on the maps required to cover both? Looking purely at Garmin products, which should integrate easily with Basecamp: City Navigator for on-road: https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/c454-p...

For those wanting more information on Scotland

Seen this: https://www.tarmap.co.uk/ :?:

Found the website on another forum, and thought it worth sharing. Not got the book myself, yet, but if the routes etc are as good as the pictures on the website, then it's going to be good.

Re: Route advice please - Eastern France to the Med

Route des Grandes Alpes should help on the mountainous side: http://www.moveyouralps.com/route-des-grandes-alpes/en/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Route_des_Grandes_Alpes And almost any of the French roads in between Reims and Geneva will be nicer than most of the UK's. For example, from Troyes, hea...
