I have a Garmin Sat Nav and Google maps on my phone, but generally find that my nose is my best route planning tool. You can get pretty much anywhere just by knowing if it is generally North or South and following the signs. Nav is really good for the last 5 or so miles to an out the way destination...

These type of threads always seem to break down into the Copper/Ex-Copper using their Blue Tinted spectacles to avoid seeing the reality or finding excuses, then calling everyone else amateurs as if they know better.... The guy with the camera had absolutely no need to slow down or react in any way...

M8 at Govan, Helen Street (24) Junction. Helen Street has Police Roads unit, workshops and a Communications Building, not to mention Govan Police Station just round the corner. Most likely the Police were from one of their facilities and should know the road well. The motorway goes from 3 lanes down...

North Coast 500 Programme on BBC Alba

I was bored with the TV the other night and flicking through the IPlayer found an interesting wee programme on the North Coast 500.
Part one was on 16th and a few parts to go.
OK, it's a BBC Weather presenter, in a VW Beetle, but may be of interest.

The point was to possibly try and collate the questions that are regularly asked and sometimes mis-answered (bulbs, high vis, B+B, what do do if stopped, good / bad hotel) and get the correct information in one place. Not write a tour guide; just pull together the some "useful stuff". I don't think ...
