GS1200 Riser question?

Could anyone here with a GS tell me what is the spacing berween the two mounting bolts on each of the (28mm) handlebar clamps? Probs 40-50mm, but hoping 50mm!! Want to fit a riser/pullback on the SWM, but as they are 50mm spacing, the cheap and cheerful eBay items dont fit! I have looked at the full...

Re: Riding through France into the Alps - Help

Interesting little thread. I don't book to be honest, just the odd time in peak when I want to be in a specific location on a set time/date. This happens infrequently ;) The municipal sites are almost without exception, great. The only thing is that in high season, especially iif located n town, th...

Re: Average speed cameras

Some idiot has installed average speed cameras on the A85, the section between the Killin turn off and Tyndrum. I assume that they are rearward facing cameras? I knew of one set installed a few years ago that could happily be ignored.... until they wised up and turned them the other way round!

Re: Dartmoor Wild camping with bike

You'd be surprised how many people are on Dartmoor of a night, There used to be lots of people sat in cars at moorland car parks, with smoke inside them, often the driver and passengers looked very hungry! (Apparently) :D ;) Obviously civilised around there, some of the "beauty spots" near here hav...

I'll confess to having wild camped on Dartmoor but in my defence I was in the RN at the time and it was part of my basic training. There is also the fact that if the Marine officer in charge says 'camp here' that's exactly what you do, no ifs or buts

You can undo the lead to the starter at the solenoid and touch it to the other pole. Sparks will fly!

Safer than doing it the other way around because you don't risk touching the battery lead on the frame in all the excitement and discovering you've learned how to weld!

Just be wary of making sparks near the battery, particularly just after it's been charged ..... a recipe for a faceful of acid - don't ask how I know!
Mmmm, heard of a tractor battery that went up under similiar circumstances some years ago, a sound warning HB :(

Re: Post off, starting problems!

THanks all, I will forward the thread onto Sam for his consideration and ponderings!

Jump leads was going to be my suggestion to rule out a failing battery. Short the solenoid will be fun...
