Just a though may be worth bearing in mind - if you do go for fixing your seat yourself try to ensure that any foam that you purchase for the job is 'closed cell' as 'open cell' foam (like a car washing sponge) will readily absorb and retain water. Sorry if this is...

Sounds like 4pm is "backup-o'clock" or some other maintenance task kicking in and making the server busier than normal so less able to serve up content - should be a fairly easy thing to spot if that is the cause.

500 miles is about 8 days commuting :P - good news for those of us who'll be looking for a second hand bike in the next couple of years, bad news for the industry as it'll probably mean bike shops shutting down through lack of income from servicing work. Ooo that's not good! Metallurgy aside you have to wonder at the marshalling during the event if the poor guy suffocated - is there not people with eyes on all parts of the track / circuit at these sorts of things? Honest question - I've never been to that sort of event, I'm not having a go at anyone...
