Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I think you're looking in the wrong place or at the camo green special edition QB Motorcycles has just put out as they're still £4000 + OTR costs. The camo green one was £5000, which just had the paint, exhaust and crash bars.

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I rode the Versys 300 against the others and really liked it as well. Tonnes of fun and a really gutsy top end. It makes the Himalayan feel pedestrian by comparison. It is a bit firm in the suspension, and certainly in the seat, and it doesn't have the functionality of the Himalayan or the right eng...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I genuinely wish it well I like the machine so glad to hear it's done 1000 units in UK since January. Must be No1 in the charts then? I have ridden the machine and I'm not daft either. I already knew what low 20's rwhp horsepower (if you're lucky) feels like in a near 200kg package. It's balanced a...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I take all your points, and see your issue with covering big distances. I've done a couple of 600 mile days on the Himalayan which will sit at 70mph on motorway stretches. If it only did 55mph then I would definitely agree with you. Weird that people take such dumps on bikes they've never ridden but...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

For sure, if I was going around the world I'd keep it stock, but for domestic trips or another run across the States or Morocco I'd happily try the increased displacement, and to fair, you might say the same once you've been down to Morocco on it. People who've looked at the engine design and stripp...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

You say average off road Sweeney Todd but I've ridden my Himalayan back to back with a KLR650 and a Tenere 660 and I know some will shake their head in disagreement but for me the Himalayan bettered those two on the dirt in all but ground clearance. Suspension travel is more limited but more complia...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

Yeah I tend to rely on the on-board temp gauge, as inaccurate as it is by taking into account a mix of air and engine temp. From memory anything less than 40 degrees C seemed fine. It was over 60 in the US. To be honest the engine was roaring hot but it still seemed to perform ok. Wouldn't want to r...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

You should try riding one in Texas when it's 48-ish degrees. Gives off a fair amount of heat for sure! I did find it ran a lot cooler on fully synthetic and I didn't get any clutch slip with that. Good price on the tyres. Will check you the ad. I have Mitas E09s on for now but will need road rubber ...
