I've just fitted GS wheels to my 1150 Rockster and the front has a flat spot on it....not measured it but would guess it's a good 2-3mm and it runs fine....and that's on the road with Tourances.
You've paid for it now, just chuck a tyre on it and try it, sometimes it's easy to get to picky about ...

Went to this last year, as you say, well worth a visit.
The hill climb is fun to watch, everything from supermotos to a Kwak GT750 with top box, panniers and his son on the pillion seat!

If your going to travel all around the British Isles it doesn't matter where you start or finish!

Peak for me. My eyes are particularly sensitive to bright sunlight and the peak on my Bell open face is brilliant. Riding into the sun on a wet road however is a different story.....

Subconsciously I think we all believe stuff at times....either online or by the spoken word. I also think we have the ability to filter out what we don't want to hear as well!
