Re: WANTED - Ktm 690 enduro

My completely unrepresentative sample of one has been very reliable. Needs as much maintenance as any other trail bike if used off tarmac. I my view the bike has very few weak spots, the rocker arm issue is the main one and the gearing is a bit odd depending on your use/needs. The bike is a pig to c...

Re: Forum influence

I'm influenced massively then bugger off do it my way which is normally the wrong way. But met some great people and really enjoy the meets when I can get away from the wife and kids. I would never have gone to France and done some great off-roading without reading the write ups on here That's kind...

Re: Forum influence

I was thinking on more of a day to day basis.
I, likewise, did a UK to Cape Town trip back in 1991/1992 on a GS before the days of the internet, GPS, mobile phones, digital cameras and nobody had ever heard of Charlie and Ewan!

Forum influence

How much does reading this and other forums influence where you ride, what you ride or any other aspect of your biking life? In my case I find I can be inspired by some of the travel threads and sometimes motivated to get my finger out and do some repairs or mods. to a bike. The travel inspiration u...

Re: People that you meet...

I meet a lot of squeaky clean tourists these days - nothing wrong with it, when we're on our tourer my missus likes everything to be just so. The trouble is that on the rare occassion that I come across these people in a campsite (not their usual habitat), I'm usually in trail riding kit and often a...

Re: France has made CE Gloves compulsory

None of us like all this regulation but the French civil servants love to create this stuff, possibly to justify their existance. The last two rules that have been introduced - hi viz in the event of a breakdown and wearing gloves seem quite sensible to me. If you're looking to have a stress free tr...

Re: People that you meet...

Biking has changed and now a days they are cock wobblers on all brands of bikes (thumbs) Brand loyalty or blindness is a strange thing but I'm not sure it's changed much over the years. I remember back in the late 60s (when I was too young to have a licence ), the oily rag, dyed in the wo...
