Re: Adventure Travel.....................on 4 Wheels

I have travelled many more km's by 4wd than bike, sadly. This includes rally and off road racing recovery, rally controls etc fun times! (thumbs) Subaru (modified, don't laugh), landcruiser and last Jeep (never again). All in Oz, so not so helpful for Europe  I don't think principles are too ...

pretty much exactly the same as on the K60's
Correct, I have 130/80-17 on the XT660R and these are without the centre band (thumbs)

Re: Fitting the Heidenau K60 Scout on the F800GSA 2015

So reserve has basically two camps. Try to make a diy alteration to spoke rims and fit tubless of fork out £1000 plus for new alpina rims. Changing the front to fix a tubed puncture is not to much and issue but the rear a lot more difficult I no the pros and cons of tube Vs tubeless. But wanted to ...

Re: Lowering Links for XT660z or XT660R or CCM

I'm the same size as you, well perhaps 1cm taller and 1cm more inside leg if I'm to talk myself up :) I have an XT660R that was, up until recently, at standard height and I had no problems with it for 15k miles. I tried the XT660Z before I bought the R but the height plus weight made it too much for...

Re: Bike Seat Upholsterors: #FAIL

At the risk of sounding like an ar$e, have you tried ringing these same companies rather than relying on e-mails? The reason I suggest this is that I wouldn't necessarily expect a tradesman to be able give me a decent quote, or information, on the back of an e-mail. Also, while they have an e-mail c...

Re: Long distance underwear

Oh and if your kevlar jeans are anything like my kevlar cargo [strike]pants[/strike] trousers (corrected for the Brits) - nothing, aside from a car with airconditioning, would have helped while wearing them!

Re: Long distance underwear

Last time this topic came up, I proffered my positive experiences of using seamless cotton boxer shorts during a long excursion in Morocco. Things changed last year when riding a bike with more wind protection (F800GS v XT660R in Morocco) in 35 temps on the way to and from Turkey - I suffered badly....

Re: Recommend a rain cover

I have 2 Aldi/Lidl covers and a Hein Gericke cover that are all quite a few years old now. The Aldi/Lidl variants are cheap as chips (£10ish?) when on offer, appear to be too light/thin of a material but have lasted for years without tears, no pooling of water or leakage when fitted snugly, are enor...
