Hi OB1, where are you planning to enter China from. You need a temporary Chinese license to ride there.Although the Chinese government don't recognise IDP's, these can be used to obtain a temporary license.Hope this is of some use. give me a shout if you need any more info.

Had a good look and wheel looks O.K. Country roads in Scotland are the worst av ever seen.
I agree with trying to avoid riding at night. Although you can see them easier in the day it's a fine line with lookin for potholes and lookin where you're goin.

Roads are in a shocking state.
Hit a mental pot-hole yesterday. I'm just going out to wash front wheel and inspect for cracks or dents. As well as deep potholes the salt in the middle of the tyre tracks has turned to really slippy mud. Farmers are getting busy in the fields so there's a lot of mud about as well. On the plus side ...

Hi, it would depend on what type of roads and what speeds you will be travelling at.
A proper full face will give you more protection.Main thing is getting one that fits properly.If you will be offroad or travelling slow adventure or open-face are O.K.
