I haven't displayed the tax disc on any of my bike since 1989.

When pulled by coppers they never bat an eyelid when I take it out of my wallet and show 'em.

Do it yerself if you can. At least you'll know it's been done. I used to take my bike to a tech with a great rep on loads of forums.
