Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

Sorry for the delays. Work, life, and all this stuff getting in the way. Anyhow, the Saturday morning came and we could see that the poor Airstream had taken a beating in the night, aeriels broken, patio umbrella destroyed, no electricity and a lot of debris around. We were headed for our Saturday m...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

The Cherohala Skyway though - Wow, what a difference, fast (Within the speed limit), flowing and more scenic. A much better experience, way quieter too. In fact it was that nice we hardly stopped for photos, only once by a creek for our very healthy lunch snacks. 1308198.jpg A rare scenery shot too ...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

We spent way too long in the museum. Well not too long, but we met up with Andy and spent over an hour talking to him. Turns out that he and the guy I met at the Rally actually started to ride around the world together and got to Magadan (or was it Vladivostok) But what a lovely, lovely guy. We swap...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

Asheville then. A nice town, but we didn't see much of it as we swam in the motel Super 8 swimming pool before getting take away food and calling it a day. We're classy! The plan was to backtrack a little bit and head up a road with a scary name. It was called "Devil's Whip" and we were advised that...

Re: Bike insurance for the USA no longer available

I've just come back from the USA (14th June to 15th July) and had insurance with Fernet on my own bike for USA and Canada. I needed to say it was a UK Bike and provided them the VIN). I recommended them to a Danish guy too a few days ago and he managed to get cover (I think that's what he said anyho...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

Haha, I didn't. While it was all a joke and in good spirits I didn't want any grief in places where the NRA was less popular. Mind you, I still have it here now, I found it yesterday, so may pop it on the screen ...

Re: Annual trawl of insurance.

Just about to go through the annual renewal for a two bike policy. Thanks to those of you who mentioned Devitts. Just went with them and saved £20 over last year's price (and £40 if I had renewed with the current company)

Re: 4-5 weeks in 2020 - where would you go?

Sounds like you're on a SA passport? If so, you know it's VISA free to Russia for SA Citizens now? ;) Just sayin' Just to elaborate. We've done Russia a few times now and it's amazing. We're not as hardcore as some, but it's always a proper adventure and the people are mostly great. If I were in you...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

Arrival at our first motel of trip didn't disappoint. It was a motel as seen in the movies, where you park outside your door. It's properly low frills but was clean, cheap and did the job. We took a walk across to the local shops and grabbed something to eat. Why are there no pavements in lots of pl...

Re: 30 Days to cross the USA

All the Smithsonian Museums in Washington are free, and I like free! A lot of them are along that big grassy section that must be a mile or even longer. I'm sure "that grassy bit" has a proper name, but I didn't look it up. We headed into the Space Museum as that seemed to be the one right up our st...
