Around Australia

I am trying to find a copy of a documentary about a chap on a 750 Honda 4 who did a record attempt to ride around Australia back in the 1970's on highway1. It was on the TV many years ago. A film crew followed his progress and even filmed him having a spectacular crash somewhere in the outback after...

Re: Six volt to twelve.

I think that looks something like what I am looking for. Being a technophobe, I will give my weird tecccy mate a call and see what he can do with it. Many thanks.

Re: Six volt to twelve.

It may well be OK to convert to 12V but, this means I will have to do it to three of my bikes. Will a satnav run on six volts I wonder? It would be nice to just get a converter and use it on all the bikes, especially as not all three can be converted to twelve volts.

Re: Six volt to twelve.

Reality check here folks. Like I said, I ride a seventy year old bike around Europe. Surely that will tell you what a technophobe I am. No I phone, No fancy hi-tech gizmo's. Just an ordinary Garmin Zumo. I don't want to buy another one just for the Norton when I already have one that works well enou...

Six volt to twelve.

I have a Norton ES2 for some of my serious trips. It runs on six volts. I do not want to go to all the aggro of converting it to twelve volts, but I need to use a sat nav on the odd occasion. I was told recently that there was a transformer available for running such things. I was told it does work,...

Re: Who can remember their first big trip?

1986 and my new Harley shovel head. I bought it five years earlier and now had 50,000 miles on the clock. Yes, I like to ride it! And no it never gave me grief. Booked a ferry with team bike tours from Weymouth to Cherbourg. Did 3,000 miles in 10 days.Straight down to Andorra, Spain, then across sou...

Brilliant stuff. I worked in Baniere de Bigore back in 1997 in April. It was stunning in the mountains. On our days off we went to most places within an easy drive went there before on the bike and have been back a few time since. Last time on my 1948 Norton. It was awesome!

Re: Got to go.

Sadly I have to agree with this site being less interesting. I honestly think it is not the members nor the content, but the way it is presented. I liked the layout of the site when it first started when you could look at everything in on go.Can we please go back to the original format. Lets hear so...

Isle of Elba

Has anyone been ti the Isle of Elba, just off the Italian west coast? Is it worth going for a couple of day? is it very expensive? What is to see and what is to avoid? And are there plenty of camp sites? Anything at all you have to say? Many Thanks in advance.

Re: Triumph tiger 955

Brilliant bike. 200 plus on a tank. Between 48 and 62 mpg. Get a vario screen deflector and maybe extend the rear foot pegs bracket down a few inches. I helps with passengers with a dicky hip. Taqke a look on tigertriple.com for superb info.
