This is the only way the engine gets its oil as everything is pump-fed, gearbox an' all, so its pretty serious! There is a second oil pump which returns the oil from the sump [crankcase] back to the top of the frame, it has its own oil screen but is reasonably self cleaning as its horizontal and mos...

I have checked many on DRs and DRZ and they only clog up if something "bad" has happened to the engine, generally a lack of oil leading to overheating and engine damage with loads of metal and carbon particles being pumped round.... This is the gravity feed to the oil pump though the pump will "suck...

Be aware that the SM DRZ has much firmer suspension which is not ideal for off-road, though plenty seem to do it.

Thanks for the replies. I think the Avade is not really for me but looks perfect for say cycling, I want just a vest ideally with no sleeves.
